2017 Hyundai Santa Fe vs 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe
Serving Clearwater, Tampa, Largo, St. Petersburg, Palm Harbor, FL
The Hyundai Santa Fe has long been a best-seller among midsize SUVs, and the 2016 version was particularly renowned for its best in industry warranty, high reliability, and well-built, attractive interior. In fact, it was named one of the best 3-row SUVs for families by U.S. News and World Report. For 2017, Hyundai has updated the Santa Fe with a fresh new look as well as added options and new safety technology. Read on to learn more about the key differences between the 2016 and 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Performance
The 2016 Santa Fe features impressive power, speed, and acceleration driven by the 290-horsepower V6, which offers 18/25 city/highway mpg fuel economy*. Fans of this SUV praise the smooth ride, responsive brakes, and composed handling. While the new 2017 Santa Fe keeps the same engine, it adds the ability to switch between Sport, Eco and Normal settings using the Drive Mode selection, which comes standard in all trim levels. That means you can adjust the suspension with the push of a button based on driving conditions as well as your own personal preference.
Appearance Updates
The new Santa Fe comes with key design changes to the exterior, including a revised front grill with a brushed insert and revamped headlamps; a cleaner, more streamlined rear bumper with a twin-paired dual exhaust; and sleeker side rocker panels with silver accents. In addition, the alloy wheels have been redesigned, with 17", 18", and 19" options available. You can also opt for LED DRLs and LED fog lamps, an added feature for 2017.
Safety
The 2016 Santa Fe received the highest crash test ratings in four out of five categories from the Insurance Institute on Highway Safety. Hyundai hopes to make it five out of five with its revisions to the 2017 model, which add a suite of new safety technology. This includes available features like automatic emergency braking, which immediately brakes the vehicle if a crash is imminent and the driver does not respond; a multi-view camera system, which provides the driver with a 360-degree view around the entire SUV; blind spot detection with rear cross traffic alert and lane change assist; lane departure warning; rear parking sensors; and smart cruise control, which slows down or accelerates your vehicle based on surrounding traffic. Another cool new feature is the dynamic bending headlights, which automatically swivel to curve with the car as you turn. Although crash test ratings are not yet available on the 2017 Santa Fe, they are expected to meet or exceed those earned in last year's model.
