Driving into the Future
The 2021 Sonata is not your father’s sedan. At Crown Hyundai in St. Petersburg, we’ll show you the model year upgrades that keep this sporty, smart car driving into the future. After last year’s redesign, Hyundai has found more ways to further enhance its performance, technology, and good looks. Come in any time for a look or a test drive. We’re sure you’ll agree that the 2021 Hyundai Sonata brings all-new style and excitement to the sedan.
Design and Performance In Sync
Everyone loves the new proportions and sportier look of the 2021 Hyundai Sonata with its coupe-like lines, seamless hood and fastback rear design. This year, they’ve added standard 19-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 R19 Pirelli P Zero™ all season tires on the turbocharged Sonata SEL Plus trim. These tires not only enhance the look of the Sonata, but upgrade its performance, handling, and durability.
Inner block winter and lateral siping technology—a technique that improves traction by adding thin slits on the surface of the tire—helps these tires not only in snowy, but in wet conditions as well, providing all-season traction. Circumferential grooves also increase safety in aquaplaning conditions.
The PIRELLI NOISE CANCELLING SYSTEMâ„¢, with a sound absorbing device applied to the tire walls, and a variable size tread design, minimize noise inside the vehicle. So this upgrade gives you not only more peace of mind, but more peace as well.
A Powerful Performance
On the 2021 Hyundai Sonata, drivers may choose between two Smartstream gasoline powertrains, both with an 8-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®. The 2.5 MPI/GDI uses high-efficiency combustion, cooled EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), and an optimized ITMS cooling system for an impressive 191 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 181 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm.
The 1.6 T-GDI engine offers 180-horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 195 lb-ft of torque at 1,500-4,500 rpm due to its World-First Continuously Variable Valve Duration system.
Both engines, with automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, give this midsize sedan an EPA-estimated 27-28 mpg city driving and EPA-estimated 37-38 mpg on the highway.
Accessible Technology For Your Ride
Hyundai also amped up the technology features on the 2021 Sonata, adding to its creature comfort, convenience, and connectivity with things like a standard 6-way adjustable power passenger seat that keeps the front seat rider just as comfortable as the driver on extended road trips.
And what could be handier than starting your car, opening your doors, or pressing the panic button with your smartphone? The Sonata lets you do just that via a smartphone app and the Hyundai Digital Key. This not only allows you to leave your keys at home, but lets you securely share this feature with family and friends.
Other new and familiar features give the Sonata the air of a luxury vehicle—like the Panoramic Sunroof that lets you feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. There’s also new heated and ventilated front seats, a hands-free smart trunk, and an electric parking brake.
On the connectivity side, this sporty sedan includes a Qi high-speed wireless smartphone charging pad with a cooling fan, and standard Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and text-to-speech via Bluetooth® integration. You also get dual Bluetooth® support so you’re able to pair two devices at the same time.
Setting the scene for new connectivity tech features is a top-notch audio and visibility display system. It starts with a high-definition, customizable 10.25-inch touchscreen view monitor with split screens and cloud-based speech recognition. This is powered by the available Blue Link connected car system.
The wide 12-inch cluster display has four views: utility, driver assistance, parking assistance, and navigation. The navigation system has a bird’s eye view in Navigation Maps, and HERE HD Traffic flow and incident data (no subscription needed) and offers three years of free Blue Link Multimedia/Map updates.
Safety Features You Can Feel Good About
Hyundai Smart Sense is a suite of driver-assist safety features, many standard and some available, that come on every trim level of the Sonata. It’s like an extra set of eyes, helping you monitor your environment, and protecting you from potential dangers. These features include:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection
- Remote Smart Parking Assist
- Lane Following Assist
- Rear Occupant Alert
- Highway Drive Assist
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
- High Beam Assist
- Driver Attention Warning
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go
This year Hyundai has also added Safe Exit Warning (SEW) to the SEL, SEL PLus, and Limited trims. This handy driver assistance feature uses Smart Sense sensors to warn the driver of oncoming traffic while parallel parking.
