What's Included in the Maintenance Service Schedule?

Maintaining the investment you've made in your car, truck, or SUV goes beyond oil changes and tire rotations. Following a maintenance service schedule can help you ensure your vehicle's performance for miles to come by making sure every component of your car is maintained properly.

At Crown Hyundai, we want to help make it simple to care for your ride by providing the state-of-the-art service and trained technicians needed to keep your vehicle running its best.

When it comes to your vehicle's recommended maintenance schedule, we've got you covered. From regular oil changes and battery inspections to fluid flushes, brake pad and rotor replacements, and more, we'll help ensure your car runs strong from mile one until 100,000 miles and beyond.

What Are the Benefits of Scheduled Maintenance?

Like many drivers, you may wonder if the manufacturer's recommended maintenance intervals are really necessary for the optimum performance of your vehicle. Here are just a few of the benefits to maintaining your model's specific service schedule.

Many manufacturers use a 30-60-90 maintenance schedule, meaning certain services need to be completed and items inspected or replaced at 30,000 miles, 60,000 miles, and 90,000 miles. This general schedule covers much of a vehicle's service needs, with some variations in the timing of services as needed based on how often you drive, road conditions, whether you tow or haul heavy loads, and other factors.

By following your vehicle maintenance schedule, you can help prevent major problems before they occur. Plus, by keeping a detailed record of your car's maintenance history, you'll boost its resale value, too.

What Are the Recommended Maintenance Intervals?

Your car or crossover's maintenance service schedule may vary based on make, model, driving conditions, and more, but here is a general list of service and repair vehicles need and the mileage intervals when they're needed:

Every 3,000 to 7,000 miles: Most vehicles will need an oil and oil filter replacement at this interval, but some models only need an oil change every 10,000 to 12,000 miles, so it's best to follow the direction of your owner's manual. If you're unsure, contact the Crown Hyundai team and we'll help determine the right interval for your model.

Fluid levels should be checked, including the coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid, plus the windshield washer fluid and wiper blades should be inspected. Your tires should be rotated to help extend their life and check for any potential issues with tire balance or wheel alignment.

Every 15,000 to 30,000 miles: The engine air filter and cabin air filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles, but maybe changed out more often during pollen season or if you often drive in dusty conditions.

Your battery and coolant should be inspected every 20,000 miles, and your fuel filter may need replacing around 30,000 miles.

Every 30,000 to 60,000 miles: This interval includes inspecting the spark plugs and ignition wires and replacing if needed, although some spark plugs are rated to last longer, up to 100,000 miles.

Your brake pads and rotors should be inspected and replaced if needed. Most brake components will squeal when they're getting low and need replacing, but a visual inspection helps catch and prevent any potential issues from occurring sooner.

Does Your Vehicle Need Maintenance?

There are many signs or symptoms of your vehicle needing service. When it's time for routine maintenance or a service interval, you may notice your ride isn't running as usual. Here are a few of the major symptoms to watch for:

  • Your car is slow to start, slow to accelerate, or running sluggishly
  • Warning lights, such as the check engine light, are illuminated on your dashboard
  • You smell strange odors, such as a sweet-smelling odor coming from your A/C or a burning smell coming from your exhaust
  • You see smoke, whether white smoke, grey smoke, or black smoke
  • Your fuel mileage isn't as good as it typically is
  • You hear strange sounds, such as a squealing belt or a knocking in your wheel or axle
  • You feel vibrations even on smooth road surfaces
